December 17, 2021 – The Forty-Third Official Friday Night BeerBlog
Well HELLO there friends! This is going to be my LAST blog of 2021. I can hear you now…AWWWWW. You’re sad. But I’m not. And not because I’m glad to be taking the next two Fridays off, but because I have followed through. I have blogged ALMOST every week this year. And when I look back over the year, it ain’t half bad.
I’m pretty proud of what I’ve put out there and I’m pretty proud of what Mike and I have able to create together with the Friday Night BeerBlog. It’s a year that will live forever and a part of us that will live forever. Not bad if you’re wanting to create some sort of legacy.
So today, the middle of December, my family is all under one roof again. Everyone is tucked in their beds and arguing about the same ole things we always argue about. But life is different. They are different. We are different. It would be really hard to try to relive all of the old things that we’ve always done around this time of year, but it would be frustrating for me to try to recreate memories we’ve already had. You can’t go back.
So we’re creating new memories. This is going to be the year that perhaps some of our close loved ones spend their last Christmas with us. This could be the last Christmas before one of the kids gets married or moves to Colorado or one of our beloved pups passes away.
You just cannot foretell the future. What matters is that they are here now. ALL of them. And that the kids WANT to be here. So if you are like me, you need to live in the moment. Take stock of all of your blessings. Soak it all in before it all changes again. And just remember, changes aren’t bad, they are just different.
So look around. Soak it all in. Enjoy the special time you get to share with those in your close circle. Look at you. You did it. You survived another year of some of the most uncertain times. Know that as you move toward 2022 that you can pretty much do anything. I believe in you. So believe in yourself.
Till 2022 my friends – I’m sending all kinds of love and encouragement to make 2022 your best year yet.
Don’t be surprised if Mike and I jump back in here sometime before the end of the year for a 2021 wrap-up. He is with his mom tonight. Where he needs to be.
